Is your site ready
for AI search?

Paste your website. We crawl up to fifteen pages in about twenty seconds, read robots.txt, llms.txt, the sitemap and the structured data on each page, and score the result the same way our client audits do, with the issues ranked by severity.

What the AEO audit checks

Answer-engine optimization (AEO) is the work of making a site easy for AI assistants to read, trust and quote. The engines rely on crawlers of their own (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot), on the same signals Google uses to decide what a page is about, and increasingly on an llms.txt file that tells them what matters. If any of those doors is shut, the engines quote someone else.

The audit starts with a bounded crawl of your homepage, your sitemap sample and the pages linked from them. For every page it records the title, meta description, H1, canonical tag, robots directives, language and viewport tags, word count, image alt coverage and every JSON-LD block. At the site level it checks that robots.txt exists and does not block Google or the five AI crawlers, that an XML sitemap is present and referenced, and whether an llms.txt file is served at the root.

The score uses the four checks a crawl can measure: AI crawler access (30 points), llms.txt (10), structured-data coverage (20) and indexability of the crawled pages (15), normalised to 100. Two further checks in our client audits, whether AI answers already cite your site and your review-platform presence, need data we only collect for clients, so they are marked as such rather than guessed.

Under the score you get the issue list: the same catalogue our Site Health page uses, each with the pages affected, so a developer can act on it directly. Results are cached for a day per domain. Verify a work e-mail after the run and we will build the full report: the search terms you are missing, the AI answers that name your competitors and a plan to close the gap.

FAQs

Questions about the AEO Audit

Up to fifteen: your homepage, an evenly spaced sample of your sitemap, and pages linked from those when there is no sitemap. That is enough to find site-wide problems (blocked crawlers, missing llms.txt, no structured data) and representative page-level ones. Client audits crawl more and run on a schedule.
